From the recording Glitter Girl
This is a "next day" companion song for "Turn It Up 'Til The Neighbors Call". It has a bit of a Def Leppard vibe. As it is a companion song to "Turn It Up...." the vocalist on this is also Rob Lundgren, who again puts in a wonderful performance.
Lyrics
VERSE 1a
I wake up, real slow, with the sun shining in my eyes;
Oh I am, paying the price, for a night of no compromise.
VERSE 1b
Blanket lies on the floor and an empty bottle on the bed;
See a note in purple lipstick which reads “I am not done yet!”
CHORUS 1
She is coffee and confusion;
A kinda slow-burn strange illusion;
And I don’t even know her name;
But she’s mine for now - will things ever be the same?
VERSE 2a
She walks right in to the room, wearing just my old band tee;
Her coal black hair is pure chaos; then she just smiles at me.
VERSE 2b
Her bass is propped up in the corner, her boots are sitting by the door;
The sun catches glitter on her face, still there, from the night before.
CHORUS 2
She is coffee and confusion;
A kinda slow-burn strange illusion;
And I don’t even know her name;
But she’s mine for now - will things ever be the same? Ever be the same!
VERSE 3a
Sit on the porch, drink in hand, and our heads are in the clouds;
Last night, remains an echo, of hard music played real loud.
VERSE 3b
She hums a line from a song I know well, invokes feelings I’ve not had before;
She looks at me and I am hooked – and I, I wanna come back for more.
CHORUS 3
She is coffee and confusion;
A kinda slow-burn strange illusion;
And I don’t even know her name;
But she’s mine for now - will things ever be the same? Ever be the same!
BRIDGE
When the glitter fades and the memories blur;
I hope that I still remember her;
Not the party - that was off the wall;
Just the girl (and her bass), with no fear at all.
OUTRO
Just the girl (and her bass) with no fear;
No fear at all.
